Welcome George Simmons and Steve M. Hernandez to ACP Board of Directors

ACP Futbol is taking recreational soccer to the next level, with a clear goal: becoming LA’s top soccer talent network by 2030 by building a pathway from youth soccer to adult, semi-pro, and professional levels, while keeping development accessible and high-quality.

That kind of growth depends on leadership in the areas that shape everything else. Today, we are excited to welcome two new members to ACP’s Board of Directors:

  • George Simmons, Director of Recruiting

  • Steve M. Hernandez, Director of Team Strategy

Meet George, Director of Recruiting

George brings a relationship-first approach and enjoys building connections with soccer players and organizations alike, turning this network into a real talent pipeline. He brings years of experience building rosters and leading recreational teams to multiple championships.

As Director of Recruiting, George will take full ownership of strengthening ACP’s talent pipeline by:

  • Working closely with team managers to understand roster needs and target the right profiles

  • Identifying and inviting aligned players to club tryouts

  • Helping build a tryout process that is organized, welcoming, and competitive

  • Identifying and preparing potential talents ready to go beyond recreational soccer

Meet Steve, Director of Team Strategy

Steve brings a tactical, detail-driven mindset shaped by years of competitive experience and exposure to high-level coaching environments. He cares about the fundamentals that win games: structure, preparation, and clear player roles.

Steve also brings a modern improvement lens. The goal is not just “work harder.” The goal is to help players see the game more clearly, build sharper habits, and improve their decision-making in real match situations.

As Director of Team Strategy, Steve will take full ownership of translating club strategy into practical, repeatable team standards by:

  • Working closely with team managers to align tactics across ACP teams

  • Using video review and structured feedback to identify patterns and improvement areas

  • Building simple, digestible formations and club-wide drills

  • Supporting player development by focusing on position-based fundamentals and game IQ

Why this matters

Recruitment and Team Strategy are two of ACP’s biggest levers. When the right players enter the system and teams develop with clear standards, everything gets easier: culture, performance, and long-term growth.

Welcome to the board, George and Steve. Let’s build.
